Volunteers gathered at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Monday to assemble relief and aid packages as part of the Bridges of Giving campaign to support those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The community-led event has been organised by the Emirates Red Crescent in coordination with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

As many as 2,000 volunteers helped pack over 15,000 boxes with food, toiletries, clothing and blankets.

Sara Al Nuami, Director of MBRGI, said the campaign will continue if needed.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai's Crown Prince and Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, had rallied for the cause on his Twitter account ahead of Monday's event, saying "it reflects the spirit of solidarity that our society cherishes".
