UAE developing action plan for future diseases: Health Minister

WAM

The UAE will develop a national strategy for managing future diseases based on the lessons learned from the current pandemic.

That’s the message from the country’s minister of health and prevention, who said it’s vital to have an action plan for ‘Disease X’.

Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais was speaking on the final day of a remote government meeting to assess the UAE’s post-COVID-19 strategy.

He stressed the importance of embracing new technologies and ramping up investments in additional resources and healthcare management systems.

The minister also praised the UAE’s efforts in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"There are no custom-made, clear experiences on how to handle the crisis that countries can implement, and no one can predict what will happen.

"However, the UAE is committed to adopting new ideas and availing of similar experiences to establish their own response strategy based on accumulated lessons and information and will hopefully overcome this crisis with greater strength and determination," he added.
