Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of rapid upgrades to improve traffic flow between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road via Al Meydan Street.

Key enhancements include widening the exit from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Meydan Street from one lane to two, and expanding the bridge over First Al Khail Road to four lanes, boosting capacity and cutting travel times by up to 40 per cent.

The RTA also doubled the width of the connecting ramps between the surface road and the First Al Khail bridge. This has significantly improved access to Al Khail Road and Al Meydan Street, especially during peak hours.

One major upgrade was the expansion of Exit D69, increasing its capacity from 1,500 to 3,000 vehicles per hour. Travel times during rush hour are now down by up to 40 per cent, with vehicle queues cut in half.

These improvements are part of the RTA's master plan to deliver over 75 traffic improvement projects in 2025, supporting Dubai’s growth and its vision for sustainable, seamless mobility.
