His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has overseen Emirate's ongoing A380 cabin refurbishment programme during a tour of the airline's Engineering Centre.

The Dubai Ruler watched how the aircraft is stripped of its interiors while being prepped for its cabin makeover and a demonstration of how aircraft safety slides are deployed and tested at the airline's state-of-the-art cabin workshops.

Sheikh Mohammed also inspected a newly refurbished aircraft that has been equipped with Emirates’ latest Premium Economy cabin interiors as part of the airline's $2 billion commitment to upgrade 120 aircraft cabins over two years.

His Highness also met the team of engineers and technicians working on the retrofit programme. The Centre employs over 5,500 people in its engineering division, with UAE nationals making up 60 per cent of the workforce, and female talent making up 20 per cent. It's one of the world's leading civil aviation maintenance facilities, capable of servicing Emirates’ fleet of 260 aircraft.

Sheikh Mohammed also visited Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2, the base for flydubai and 18 other airlines, praising its significant growth and global hub status after handling 66 million passengers in 2022 and over 21 million in Q1 2023.
