Emirates Airline is offering passengers complimentary hygiene kits upon check-in at Dubai International Airport.

This comes after the airliner resumed limited passenger flights to nine destinations from Thursday.

According to the carrier, each package contains masks, gloves, antibacterial wipes and hand sanitisers.

It has redefined its hygiene standards both on board and at airports as part of its efforts to curb the spread of the virus and to ensure the safety of its travellers.

Emirates has clarified that additional preventative procedures have been implemented at transit desks at Dubai airports.

Passengers transferring onto another flight through the emirate will be thermally screened from a safe distance by staff in full personal protective equipment (PPE).

They will also be handed hygiene kits at their respective gates before boarding their next flight.

All cabin crew members have been equipped with PPE to be worn throughout the flights and are tested for COVID-19 after returning to the country.
