Dubai Municipality has dismissed social media rumours surrounding a particular brand of chicken stock available in the market, claiming they are safe for consumption.
They clarified that Maggi stock cubes did not contain nails or chicken intestines.
The rumours also claimed that flavour enhancer Sodium Glutamate, which is also known as MSG, can affect the brain cells of children, liver and kidneys.
“The allegations are not based on any scientific reference or from official health source. The food additives in the Sodium Glutamate are authorised to be used in accordance with the UAE standard, as well as international standards such as the Codex Alimentarius and European Standards,” said Dubai Municipality in a statement.
Authorities have urged people to refrain from sharing information that's unverified by official channels.
