Dubai has enough food reserves for emergency situations and is fully prepared for the next phase of challenges related to COVID-19.

That’s the message from Dubai’s Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

During a virtual meeting of the Council, members reviewed the Dubai Food Security Committee's operational plans.

Discussions focused on trade and distribution, diversifying import sources, supporting local food production and reducing waste.

Sheikh Hamdan said that there are specialised teams working around the clock to manage the consequences of the pandemic.

He also reiterated that meeting the needs of citizens and residents remains the government’s top priority.

"All local and federal departments must work closely with each other to manage our food security properly. We need to establish a united vision and approach to confront this challenge,” Sheikh Hamdan added.
