UAE-based autonomous mobility solutions company Autogo has announced the launch of its Robo Taxi service trials in Abu Dhabi, with plans to launch full operations by 2026.

This move comes as part of a strategic partnership with Apollo, a Baidu company, a leading global provider of large-scale autonomous transportation services, with the aim of introducing the next generation of mobility technologies to the roads of the capital, Abu Dhabi.

These operational trials are being conducted in coordination with the Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi to ensure the service's alignment with local transport strategies, regulations, and infrastructure requirements, as part of the emirate's efforts to promote smart mobility.

Robo-taxi vehicles provide a smart and seamless transportation experience, designed to meet the needs of modern cities and their residents.

AutoGo's vision goes beyond facilitating transportation, but also extends to enhancing traffic safety by reducing human error in driving. Furthermore, the vehicle's full electric power makes it a more sustainable option, contributing to lower emissions, alleviating traffic congestion, and reshaping the future of smart cities.

The sixth-generation Robo Taxi (RT6) was specifically developed for autonomous transportation services, featuring a safer, smarter, and more comfortable design. As the first company in China to offer fully autonomous transportation services, Apollo Go continues to integrate AI, big data, and automation technologies to support the construction of future smart cities.

The General Manager of Kintsugi Holdings, Sean Teo, said that the launch of the Robo Taxi service trials in Abu Dhabi represents the beginning of a large-scale transformation in urban mobility patterns, as Robo Taxi combines two main goals: enhancing traffic safety and achieving more sustainable transportation.

He added that AutoGo and Apollo Go will work together to test performance in real-world environments, engage with audiences, and prepare for a wider rollout of this technology in the capital, Abu Dhabi, by 2026.

Apollo Go, also known as Luopu Kuaibao, is Baidu's autonomous transportation platform and one of the world's leading companies in this field.

Apollo Go fleets have logged more than 150 million autonomous kilometers with an outstanding safety record, and total autonomous ride requests have surpassed 10 million by March.
